The one pair I have only sees the light of day when I take it to the gym. I never considered pairing them with skirts. "I'll look like super sloppy" I thought.
That is, until I saw Taylor Swift's new Keds campaign.
Now, I haven't donned a pair of Keds since I was 13, but she looks so adorable and feminine in these outfits!
So, I dug deeper.
Maybe I could give sneakers a try. They can go with feminine floral skirts, maxi pleated skirts and crazy patterns.
Please don't make the same mistake I made. Until 2009 I used to wear converse sneakers everywhere: for going out and even to work!) My work place was very casual, but I believe in dressing for the job you want, not for the job you have.
Now I see sneakers are definitely not appropriate for all situations. But for a Saturday afternoon... they are a comfortable option that could be stylish and feminine.
What do you think of the skirts and sneakers combo?

THAT'S what I'm talking about!! Do you think I'm waaaaay too old to wear skirts & Keds? I was thinking about navy blue skirts, white shirts or T-shirts with stripes and white Keds ... I could go to work with an outfit like this ... (If I can find it down below the Rio Grande ...)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were inspired by the outfits! I think the outfit you described looks very age appropriate, specially with a button down shirt.
ReplyDeleteBut, I have to say, I don't recommend wearing it to work. If you are looking for comfort, flats or platform shoes, seem like a more professional option. Does that make sense?
Here's where you can find Keds in Brazil: http://www.keds.com.br/Blog/mais-alguns-pontos-de-venda-de-keds/
Hope you find one you like! xx
Just one thing: I really don't dig those Nike & other running shoes that look like small monsters, with or without skirts. Keds & All Stars, ok. I used to wear jeans skirts & All Star & TeeShirts, but now I'm a bit old for it. But a floral skirt & Keds, I am really eager to try ... (I wasn't worried about the work-wear until last Friday: we have two new girls and I swear, I don't want to look like a slob! Maybe that was why I went to the haridresser today, & started wearing lipstick (Duda Molinos, Diva) & some transparent mascara ... Time to be a lady, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYeah, some sneakers are much more appropriate for working out and not for going out!
DeleteI understand what you are saying: looking professional and polished is important in any career.
Many people think that this means either putting too much emphasis on your appearance or neglecting your actual work.
But it's not like that at all. Those who go to work looking like slobs are indirectly saying they don't care about their jobs. How can you get a promotion that way?
You are on the right track. Plus, you are intelligent and responsible, so keep it up! You can't go wrong by being a lady ;) xx
