You might think it’s
a little late for New Year’s Resolutions.
I disagree.
Resolutions can be
made any day of the year. You don’t need January 1st, you just need
a goal and commitment to your goal.
“But... style
resolutions? Aren’t other things more important?” – you might ask.
Definitely.
When I make my resolutions I try examine all aspects of my life. My spirituality, relationships
and career take precedence over style every year.
But this doesn’t
mean that style resolutions should be left out – whether you love fashion or not.
Style resolutions can
help in more areas than you think.
Have you stared at a stuffed closet feeling you had nothing to wear? Well, I have. Over
the years I realized I'm not the smartest shopper.
I never spent a lot of money on clothes but my biggest problem is buying clothes that didn’t fit well. My main resolution this year is to spend wisely by focusing on the fit.

Maybe when you go
over your closet you realize you have no office appropriate clothes. Sure, you
dress like an intern but you want more respect (and a promotion). You need to dress more professionally.
Or perhaps you are
taking forever to get dressed every morning. While the clock is ticking, the
pile of clothes you toss in your bed is rising and class is about to begin. You
are still not dressed. You need a more functional closet to get ready faster.
Whatever
your current closet problem is, it might be affecting other areas of your life.
That’s where the resolutions come in handy.
And here are my own
2013 style goals:
I'm so not buying
clothes that I stop wearing after a couple of months anymore. I want a closet with
fewer pieces that last many (and many) seasons.
I’ve struggled for the
longest time with this, but I finally accepted that no matter how much I work out, I am a
pear. I did some research about what clothes flatter this body type and was
lucky to find sweet Marie’s amazing post with tips on how to rock this body
type.
I’ve always admired
the chic, minimalistic French style. I'm looking for inspiration in Marion
Cottilard, Carla Bruni, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Charlotte Rampling. I want
pretty much all the clothes from Midnight in Paris.
Remember: don’t beat
yourself up if you are a little behind on your resolutions. You can add a
little change in your life any day you want. Let’s make 2013 the year you
strive to look your best.
